Every now and then, I look at my FOREVER Storage account and realize I have way too many junk and duplicate or very similar photos. It feels overwhelming to see them and even more so to think about curating the account. I’m sure you have had similar feelings when you look at your photo storage, whether that is FOREVER or another system. Here are my best tips to clearing out unwanted or unneeded photos and stretching your storage space!

  • Spend 15 minutes per day deleting the obvious junk photos. These might be screenshots of items you are shopping for, funny memes or random food photos. Deleting these is sure to be a relief.
  • Keep the best, delete the rest! Dive into a group of photos from an event, time period, place or person and choose the ONE best photo to keep. It’s ok to delete the others. That’s hard, right? Here’s a strategy that might help you. Delete as many as you can and go back in a few days to see if you still feel like you need to keep what you did. Over time, you might find narrowing them down is easier.
  • Focus on people. Do you have an abundance of travel photos? I love taking photos of beautiful scenery but finally realized my family won’t care about them. They will want to see me in the photos! Keep a couple scenery shots from a location on a trip and focus more on the people. Better yet, celebrate your favorite scenery photo on a Canvas or Metal Panel!
  • Put like photos in an Album. I create Albums to help me find photos that make sense together. In the future, it will make it simpler for me to find what I want. Take a look at the Album to see if it tells a story. If you see more photos than necessary, delete the others.
  • Some people only put the best of the best photos in their FOREVER Storage account. That’s definitely a wise strategy. I choose to use my Storage account as a gathering place for everyday happenings. The key is to keep it cleaned up and organized which is an ongoing process. Think about 15 minutes per day. At first, you will feel like you aren’t making much progress but, I promise, after a few days or weeks, you’ll see the huge impact 15 minutes per day can make!

If all else fails, remember “Keep the best, delete the rest”!
